How we write and check content
Pausa’s Learn pages explain menopause in plain language. Here is who writes them, which sources we use and what we will never do.
Who writes it
The articles and quick facts are written and maintained by Mehmet Şişoğlu, the independent developer of Pausa. He is not a doctor, and these pages are not reviewed by a clinician. That is why every page links to the guidelines and studies it is based on, so you can check them yourself.
Sources we use
We rely on clinical guidelines, position statements and peer-reviewed research, and we link the specific document rather than an organisation’s home page:
- NICE (UK): NG23, Menopause: identification and management
- The Menopause Society: position statements on hormone and non-hormone therapy
- NIA (US National Institute on Aging, part of the NIH), WHO and the NHS: patient information
- ACOG and Mayo Clinic: patient information
- Peer-reviewed studies, such as the SWAN study of women through the menopause transition
How we check
Before a page is published, each figure and recommendation is compared with its source. Pages show when they were last updated, and we revisit them when a guideline we rely on changes. The six articles published before October 2026 are being re-checked the same way.
Use of AI
We use AI tools to help draft and translate text. The author checks the result against the sources before it is published; translations are not yet reviewed by native-speaking clinicians. Illustrations and videos marked as AI-generated do not show real people or real Pausa users.
What we don’t do
- We report what guidelines recommend, but we don’t give personal diagnoses, treatment advice or doses. Pausa is not a medical device.
- No sponsored content, paid placements or affiliate links.
- No analytics or advertising trackers on this website.
Our commercial interest
Pausa is free to download, with an optional Premium subscription. Articles mention Pausa where tracking is relevant; that is our commercial interest in these pages.
