What Pausa does with your data
Pausa is a health app, so we say exactly what stays on your iPhone and what can leave it. This page is based on our own review of the app’s code and its App Store listing for version 3.0.1. It is not an independent audit.
At a glance
- Your logs stay on your iPhone. Hot flashes, sleep, mood, symptoms and medications are stored in the app’s database on your device. The app has no cloud sync of its own and no account or sign-in.
- No network requests in the app’s code. We found no code that contacts our servers or anyone else’s, and the app includes no third-party SDKs. Apple’s own system services, such as the App Store for subscriptions, work as they do for every app.
- No tracking, analytics or ads. The app’s privacy manifest declares no tracking and no collected data types, and the App Store listing shows “Data Not Collected” (checked on 2 November 2026).
- Apple Health is optional and read-only. Pausa never writes to Apple Health. If you allow it, the app reads heart rate variability, resting heart rate, heart rate, steps, active energy, sleep and sleeping wrist temperature. Period days are a separate permission. You can change each one in iOS Settings.
- AI runs on your iPhone. “Describe your day” and questions about your own notes use Apple Intelligence on iPhones that support it. The text is not sent to us or to a third party. On other iPhones these two features are unavailable and the rest of the app works.
What can leave your device, only when you choose
- PDF reports and data exports. You pick where a file goes in the iOS share sheet.
- Diagnostic report. In Settings you can send a report of crash and hang information collected by iOS, plus basic device and app details such as the iOS version. It opens as an email draft in Apple Mail, and nothing is sent until you press Send. It does not contain your logs.
- Subscriptions. Apple handles purchases. We never receive your payment details.
- Backups. Device backups follow your iOS settings. Deleting data in the app removes it from your iPhone; copies already in a backup remain until that backup is replaced or deleted, as our Privacy Policy says.
Apple Watch and widgets
The Watch app and widgets receive a small “today” summary through Apple’s on-device mechanisms (Watch Connectivity and an app group). It does not pass through any server of ours.
How to check this yourself
- On iOS 15.2 or later, open Settings, then Privacy & Security, then App Privacy Report and turn it on. After a few days of use, Pausa’s entry shows any domains it contacted. If you see something unexpected, email us.
- Open Pausa’s page in the App Store and read the App Privacy section.
- Read the Privacy Policy.
What this page is not
- It is not an independent audit or certification. We have not had the app independently audited.
- It is not legal or medical advice. Pausa is not a medical device.
- Apple’s own software (iOS, HealthKit, the App Store) follows Apple’s policies, not ours.
- It describes version 3.0.1. We update it when a release changes anything above.
